Merlin’s Miniatures Has Expanded What We Buy

Merlin’s Miniatures Has Expanded What We Buy
Simon Roberts |

For a long time, Merlin’s Miniatures was best known for buying and selling pre-owned Warhammer collections. As the business has grown, so has the variety of collections we’re asked about.

Over the past year in particular, we’ve seen a steady increase in enquiries from hobbyists looking to sell collections from other tabletop systems. Rather than turning those people away, we’ve taken the time to expand what we buy, making sure we understand each system properly before accepting it.

While Warhammer still plays a big role, it’s no longer the only focus.

Why we decided to expand beyond Warhammer

Many hobbyists play across multiple systems, and it’s increasingly common for collections to include a mix of games rather than a single army from one range.

Limiting ourselves to Warhammer no longer made sense for many of the collections we were seeing. Expanding what we buy allows us to offer the same straightforward selling process to a wider range of tabletop gamers.

Warhammer is still a core focus

To be clear, Warhammer remains a major part of what we do.

We continue to buy:

  • Warhammer 40,000 armies and collections
  • Age of Sigmar forces
  • Mixed Warhammer job lots
  • Painted, unpainted, built, and unbuilt models

If you’re specifically looking to sell your Warhammer miniatures, we now have a dedicated page that explains the process in detail and lets you skip straight to getting a quote.

New systems we now buy

Alongside Warhammer, we now regularly purchase collections from several other well-known tabletop systems.

Star Wars: Legion

Star Wars: Legion has become a well-established non–Games Workshop system that we see regularly. We’re happy to look at full armies, mixed forces, and larger job lots, whether they’re painted, unpainted, or a combination of both. - Sell My Star Wars Legion Miniatures

Bolt Action

We’ve seen a steady increase in demand for both buying and selling Bolt Action. We buy Bolt Action armies, platoons, and collections, including vehicles and support units, making it a natural fit alongside other historical ranges. - Sell My Bolt Action Miniatures

Flames of War

Flames of War is fast becoming one of our stronger-selling systems, and we’re also seeing more people looking to sell or trade in their collections. As with other games, mixed-condition collections are absolutely fine, and we’re happy to look at both older and newer ranges. - Sell my Flames Of War Miniatures

Warlord Games ranges

Beyond Bolt Action, we’re also open to other Warlord Games systems. If you have a Warlord collection and aren’t sure whether it’s something we buy, it’s always worth asking. - Sell My Warlord Games Miniatures

World of Tanks Miniatures Game

World of Tanks collections are another recent addition. Tanks, starter sets, and larger collections are all considered, especially where items are being sold together rather than individually. - Sell My World of Tanks Miniatures

Magic: The Gathering

We also buy Magic: The Gathering collections, including mixed cards, bulk lots, and older collections. Whether cards are organised or not, and whether collections span multiple sets or eras, we’re happy to take a look. - Sell My Magic The Gathering

Beyond tabletop games

Alongside tabletop systems, we now also look at selected film and television props, particularly items suited to display or collection. As with everything else we buy, condition and documentation can vary, and we’re always happy to review items on a case-by-case basis.

We also consider retro video games, vintage toys, and classic book collections, with a particular interest in history and military titles. If you’re unsure whether something fits within what we buy, it’s always worth getting in touch with a few details.

One process, regardless of system

While the games we buy have expanded, the process hasn’t changed.

Selling a collection still works the same way:

  • You send us details and photos
  • We review the collection
  • We provide a free quote
  • If you’re happy, we agree payment and delivery

We also continue to offer the option of store credit with an additional 10% value, for those who want to put the money back into the hobby rather than cash out completely.
