The current edition of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy launched in 2022 and is often referred to as the second edition. It streamlines many of the rules while keeping the feel of classic large-scale battles intact. The game is built around massed infantry, tanks, and elite units, and it’s perfect for players who enjoy a slightly more simulation-heavy, narrative-led experience.

A brief history

The Horus Heresy originally began life as a series of Forge World supplements and novels, telling the tragic backstory of the Warhammer 40K universe. Over time, it evolved into a full standalone system with its own rules and model range. With its roots in the lore-rich conflict between the Emperor and the traitor Warmaster Horus, it offers a deeper look into the origins of the Imperium and the Legiones Astartes.
