From Toy Photography to Grimdark Masterpieces: How Six1Six Photos is Redefining Warhammer Art
Simon Spicer |

Andrew, a US-based artist from West Michigan, has quickly become a notable figure in the Warhammer community. Over the past 12 months, he has transitioned from his successful career as a toy photographer—known on Instagram as @six1six_photos—into the world of Warhammer, blending his love for storytelling with competitive gaming and digital art.

As a toy photographer, Andrew brought action figures and collectibles from famous IPs to life, crafting dynamic shots that gave each image its own narrative. Last summer, he discovered Warhammer and immediately dived in, building collections of Ultramarines, Imperial Knights, and Blood Angels. Whether winning or losing in the competitive scene, Andrew's love for the hobby only grew.

Recently, he took his creative skills further by stepping into the world of paint-over art, inspired by other artists in the Warhammer community. Using his iPad, he breathes new life into models from across the Grimdark universe, blending digital techniques, brushes, and overlays to produce stunning visual edits.

For Andrew, Warhammer is about more than just the models—it’s about sharing creativity and building a community. His journey reflects the spirit of the hobby, and he’s excited to share his work with Warhammer fans worldwide.
